GLASS4GOOD™ Program Launches in Warren County

Bowling Green, Kentucky (November 14, 2024) – On Thursday representatives from O-I Glass and Warren County Government joined United Way of Southern Kentucky for the launch of the GLASS4GOOD™ program in Warren County. At the launch, a glass recycling bin was unveiled at Ephram White Park and the announcement was made that another recycling bin has been positioned at Basil Griffin Park.

Opening remarks were made by Warren County Deputy Judge-Executive Bryan Downing. Bryan stated, “We are often asked about what continues to make Warren County such a great place to live, and this is a prime example – collaboration of partners across our community to benefit one another and the entirety of our community. We are excited to see this program launch!” After that, the O-I Glass Bowling Green’s plant manager spoke, followed by the CEO of United Way, Debbie Hills stating, “We are grateful for the County’s and O-I Glass’s collaboration to launch this program, and we are truly honored to be the beneficiary of this program. We know the recycling collected through the GLASS4GOOD™ program will have a positive ecological impact, and then the byproduct of the recycled glass will help our community by creating funding to help United Way make a difference in our community. We are confident this program will thrive because of the thoughtful residents of Warren County, so thank you!” The event concluded with various individuals placing items in the bin.

After the event, Danielle Brickner, the Sustainability Collaboration Specialist for O-I, had this to say about the program launch, “We are pleased to provide the community with a sustainable option for glass recycling. Through GLASS4GOOD™, we strive to maximize the impact of every glass bottle by reinvesting in our communities. Thank you to the Warren County Parks and Recreation department and United Way of Southern Kentucky for partnering with us on this exciting program.”

Glass is 100% recyclable, always maintaining its same quality and properties. Items that can be recycled include any food/beverage glass bottles, jars, or containers. Items that cannot be recycled include windows, mirrors, light bulbs, solar panels, drinking glasses or heat-resistant glass (Pyrex).  Last year, GLASS4GOOD™ throughout the country generated $27,830 dollars for local nonprofits.
