NATIONAL 211 DAY CELEBRATED AT BOWLING GREEN CITY HALL WITH PROCLAMATION SIGNING

Bowling Green, Kentucky (February 11, 2026) United Way of Southern Kentucky was joined
by community partners, 211 referring agencies, as well as Bowling Green City and Warren
County Government officials for a proclamation signing in recognition of National 211 Day. The
proclamation that was issued today highlights the essential services provided by 211. This free
and confidential helpline connects residents across the 10county Barren River Area
Development District with vital resources, including housing assistance, food, utility support, and more.

The official proclamation declaring February 11, 2025, as “211 Day” in Bowling Green and
Warren County was read by Warren County Deputy JudgeExecutive Bryan Downing, City of
Bowling Green Mayor Todd Alcott, and Bowling Green City Commissioners Dana Beasley
Brown and Melinda Hill.

In 2025, 211 contact specialists spent 109,196 minutes helping 11,276 individuals who reached
out via texting, calling, or other means. Southern Kentucky 211 has aided those individuals by
searching for available resources in their database and providing 14,600 nonprofit agency
referrals.

“When people don’t know where to turn, 211 is thereconnecting individuals and families to the
help they need, right when they need it. National 211 Day is a chance to remind our community
that support is only a call or text away. No matter the situation, 211 offers clear guidance and a
caring voice, so no one has to face difficult moments on their own,” said Ellie Harbaugh,
Executive Vice President of United Way of Southern Kentucky.

The Federal Communications Commission assigned 211 as a threedigit telephone number for
the purpose of providing quick and easy access to information about health and human
services. Here locally, 211 is available by text at 898211. Contact specialists work with callers
or texters to assess their needs, determine their options, and provide information and referral
services that can offer assistance and/or intervene in crisi
s situations. The center is able to take
calls and text messages 24/7/365.

To celebrate National 211 Day, the Southern Kentucky’s 211 Contact Center encourages
individuals across Southern Kentucky to help spread the word about the 211 services available
in our community by sharing information on social media and within your organizations,
companies, and businesses.
