(July 27, 2023) – The fifteenth annual Day of Caring in Southern Kentucky was on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. Nearly 1,000 volunteers from dozens of local companies, as well as individuals, participated in the annual event with one common goal: to Live United in a collective effort to improve the community. The Day of Caring allowed for 60 nonprofit projects to be completed in six counties throughout southern Kentucky.
The United Way Day of Caring is focused on aiding nonprofits, but it also allows a different environment for companies, and individuals, to build trust and comradery. As part of the Day of Caring, businesses and organizations made a commitment to offer their employees a hands-on, volunteer experience with a wide variety of nonprofit projects to choose from.
In the months leading up to the Day of Caring, nonprofits submitted projects that they needed help with, or drive requests for supplies they could utilize to help others. Then, teams of volunteers and individuals were matched with projects on a first come, first serve basis. In accordance with United Way’s Community Impact focus, all Day of Caring projects were designed to address issues in Education, Income, Health, and Safety Net.
